Hand-Carved Fluted Marble Bowl in Nero Marquina Black or Red Marble

The Selene is the kind of object that gets picked up, turned over, and set back down very carefully.

Carved from a single piece of natural marble, the Selene's exterior is worked into deep, rounded fluting — each channel carved by hand, running from rim to base in a pattern that references ancient column work and Italian stonecutting tradition simultaneously. The interior is left smooth and highly polished, creating a deliberate material contrast: rough and sculptural on the outside, mirror-calm within. In nero marquina black — ink-dark with fine white veining tracing across both the carved exterior and the polished bowl — it has the quiet authority of a piece that belongs in a museum as comfortably as on a coffee table. In red marble — a rich, layered burgundy and plum with white and rose veining that runs in dramatic horizontal bands across the fluting — it is the more arresting of the two, a bowl that reads as almost geological, like something excavated rather than made. Both are heavy in the hand in the way that only natural stone is, and that weight is entirely the point.
